The Challenge

The Newseum's design called for a custom spherical panel system for the exterior surface. This visually-dramatic dome would house a new multimedia projection theater, also by Spitz. The frame and panels needed to mount to an exisiting domed roof structure, and would have to be designed and installed within six months.

The Solution

Spitz created a custom frame and an attractive major/minor gapped seam design for the panel surface. The design allowed easy installation while maintaining an aesthetically attractive appearance. The structure was manufactured and installed within the client's tight timeframe, completed one week ahead of schedule.
