The RoDo rotating dome features a patented tilting mechanism that lowers a 27 meter diameter dome screen into position for projection of hemispheric large-format movies. When the dome is raised, a flat screen is revealed for projection of large-format 2-D or 3-D movies. When the dome is lowered, the immersive experience of a large-format dome film becomes the feature.
Spitz collaborates with Prat S.A. to supply the RoDo system, and is the exclusive agent for this theater in the Americas.
RoDo theaters include the Barcelona Port Vell Imax, Madrid's Teatromax Theater and the Berlin Potsdammer Platz Imax Theater. The first North American RoDo opened at the Science Museum of Minnesota in 1999.
