Spitz Institute 2012

Join us for the 8th annual Spitz Summer Institute August 6 – 10. During the five day event we’ll explore planetarium education, and focus on fulldome digital display for science learning. The first two days cover curriculum and realtime planetarium demonstration for teaching – including a comprehensive introduction to Starry Night software. Days 3–5 explore production, digital audio, graphics, photography, and automation skills needed to create state-of-the-art educational programs.

Guests can attend the first two days only, the last three days, or all five days. Beginning, intermediate and advanced courses are offered throughout, along with guest speakers, attendee presentations, and side trips to local sites of interest.

Institute Update – Hotel Info: We have hotel info and rates for the 2012 Institute. The Institute hotel is the Staybridge Suites. The rate is $105 for a studio suite, $135 for a one bedroom suite, and $175 for a two bedroom suite. Each room has free wired/wireless internet, plus refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher. The Staybridge Suites includes complimentary breakfast buffet each day, and a light supper every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening with free wine, beer, soft drinks, and hot & cold food items. Institute Update - Curriculum: This year, attendees have the opportunity to purchase Starry Night and Layered Earth classroom software + teachers binders, at a discount, as part of the Institute registration.
