Spitz distributes the Chronos instrument in the US, which was designed by and for planetarium professionals. The first Chronos was installed at Young Harris College in Georgia, USA in 2002.
A revolutionary, compact instrument perfect for non-tilted domes between 24 feet (7 meters) and 40-feet (12.2 meters) diameter, its new star plate technology projects 8500 stars, down to magnitude 6.5.
Chronos includes an ergonomic console and instrument automation. The flat screen monitor built into the console is user-configured to show classical position readouts, the suns position above and below the horizon, automation program status, and more. The Sun, Moon and 5 naked-eye planets are all computer driven by X-Y slewing mirrors. 24 constellation outlines are included and move with the sky. A click of a mouse sets the sky for any time in the past, present or future, and transports you to any place on Earth or in our solar system in 20 seconds or less.
