Xanadu

The Xanadu elliptical vortex is the most complex structure Spitz has ever built. Comprised of 2926 unique pieces, weighing over 25 tons, and blending parts rolled to 69 different radii into an organic form, the vortex demanded creativity and painstaking attention to detail in all aspects of the project. The 384 feet of rolled, twisting, LED ribbon tracks were as complex as the structure itself.

The customer relied on Spitz’ artistic vision and engineering skills to create this dynamic sculpture. We augmented our standard design tools and practices to account for the project’s complexity. Eighty-one pages of shop drawings guided our installers, who completed the site work without error.

With smooth transitions and undulating topography, the intricate yet imposing structure will pull visitors into its grasp.
